This wine comes from the north-east area of Spain and is one of the many excellent wines coming from Catalonia (see map.)
If you were asked to name five Spanish wines, this denominación would not, I expect, spring to mind. Yet it produces the most expensive wine in Spain (L'Ermita) and its producers are at the forefront of the changing face of modern Spanish wines. As a result, the wines of this area are not cheap.
