This is a new wine from the cooperative Agrícola Castellana, and is made from Verdejo and Sauvignon Blanc. The taste is fresh, light and fruity with a hint of lemon and apple. Excellent on its own or with delicate seafood or chicken dishes.

CON CLASS

The bodega at Cuevas de Castilla is producing very exciting wines from Verdejo, Viura and Sauvignon blanc.

MARQUÉS DE RISCAL
Sauvignon

This is a very good 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with an excellent bouquet, and tasting of cut grass and nettles. It is also very good value for money, as it can normally be bought for under £4.

MARQUÉS DE RISCAL

Another very good white from Vinos Blancos de Castilla. It is made from 90% Verdejo, with a little Viura and matured for a few months in oak casks. They are fresh and fruity and sold under the label of the Marqués de Riscal.

PALACIO DE BORNOS

This wine is made by one of the branches of the Sanz family (see above). It consists of 90% Verdejo and 10% Viura. It has a clean, crisp finish and gorgeous fruit and ripeness.

SANZ

This is another mixture of Verdejo and Viura. It is dry and crisp, and tastes of hay and apple.

VIÑA CALERA

This is an excellent 100% Sauvignon Blanc, with the right balance of fruit and acidity, tasting of cut grass and nettles.

VIÑA MARIÁN

This is a mixture of Verdejo and Viura. It has a pale straw colour, and is lightly fruity. Should be served at 6-8º and goes very well with fish and shellfish.
