Wines from the region of Navarra in north-east Spain are now very popular in the
UK and are excellent value for money. Garnacha is the most widely planted grape here, with 54 per cent
of the current area under vine. Tempranillo stands at 23% and the rest are
Graciano, Mazuelo,
Merlot and
Cabernet Sauvignon. The main white grape is Viura.
Navarra is known throughout Spain as an excellent area of rosado (rosé) wines,
and they are still very popular.
